Tabdial Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

In short: Tabdial keeps what you save in your own browser and, if you use sync, in your own Chrome sync storage. We never receive, sell or share your data, and Tabdial has no ads, analytics or tracking. The only thing we ever receive is an anonymous answer if you choose to tell us why you removed Tabdial.

This policy covers the Tabdial browser extension (“Tabdial”), published by NEXUSCORTEX LLC (“we”).

What Tabdial stores

To show your speed dial, Tabdial stores the following:

Where it is stored

All of this is stored locally in your browser profile, on your computer. It is never sent to us.

Backups. Before your first change each day, Tabdial keeps a copy of your dials in the same local storage, so you can restore them from Settings. Up to 7 copies are kept, and when you restore one, Tabdial also keeps the dials it replaced so you can undo the restore. Backups never leave your computer.

Sync. Sync is on unless you turn it off in Tabdial's settings. With sync on, the list of your dials (their addresses, titles and groups) is also saved in Chrome's sync storage for extensions. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome keeps that list in your Google Account so the same dials appear on your other computers. Thumbnails and settings are not synced. We never receive this list; Chrome sync is provided by Google under the Google Privacy Policy, and you can delete synced data from your Google Account's Chrome sync settings.

To move everything, thumbnails included, use Export in Tabdial's settings and import the file on the other computer.

The toolbar button

When you click Tabdial's toolbar button, Tabdial reads the address and title of the page you are on and takes a picture of the visible part of that page to use as its thumbnail. This happens only when you click the button, only for that one page, and the result is stored in your browser as described above. Tabdial does not read your browsing history or the content of the pages you visit.

Adding your most visited sites

If you click Add your most visited sites, Chrome asks whether Tabdial may read the list of your most visited websites. If you allow it, Tabdial reads that list once, adds those sites as dials, and then gives the permission back. The list is stored only as the dials you see.

Requests to other websites

Tabdial itself does not contact any server. Two things you choose can cause your browser to load content from another website, the same way a normal web page would:

Website icons shown on dials come from your browser's own icon cache.

Importing and exporting

When you import a file, Tabdial reads it in your browser to add its dials. When you export, Tabdial creates a file on your computer. Neither is uploaded anywhere.

When you remove Tabdial

When you remove Tabdial, your browser opens a short page on nexuscortex.dev asking why. The page address includes the version of Tabdial you had. Answering is optional: you can simply close the page.

If you do answer, we store only the reason you picked, the text you typed (if any), the Tabdial version, and the date and time you sent it. We do not store your IP address, browser details or any other identifier, so an answer can't be traced back to you. (Your IP address is used for a moment, without being stored, to stop the same sender from posting many answers in a row.) We use the answers only to learn what to fix or improve in Tabdial, never sell or share them, and delete them automatically after two years. They are stored with Cloudflare, which hosts nexuscortex.dev. Because answers are anonymous, we can't find or delete a particular one later, so please don't type personal information into the text box.

What we collect

Tabdial itself collects nothing. We do not collect personal information, browsing history, usage statistics or crash reports, and Tabdial uses no cookies, analytics or third-party services. The only service it uses is Chrome's own sync, described above, which you can turn off. Because we never receive your data, we cannot sell or share it. The one exception is the optional, anonymous answer described under “When you remove Tabdial”, and only if you choose to send it.

Deleting your data

You can delete any dial or group in Tabdial at any time. Removing Tabdial from your browser deletes everything it stored on that computer, including backups. Export your dials first if you want to keep them. The synced list can be deleted from your Google Account's Chrome sync settings.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Tabdial handles data differently, for example an optional backup to your own cloud storage, we will update this policy before that version is released and change the date at the top of this page.
